Are auto crashes more common on Independence Day?

Although motor vehicle wrecks can take place during any time of the year, there are certain occasions when the likelihood of crashes is even greater. For example, Independence Day can be particularly dangerous for drivers and vehicle occupants for all sorts of reasons. If you have been struck by a reckless driver, it is essential for you to do what you can to piece your life together in every way possible.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that Independence Day, also known as the Fourth of July, is among the four most deadly times of year when it comes to fatal auto crashes. Other deadly days include July 3, December 24, as well as December 25. Sadly, many people who are involved in fatal motor vehicle wrecks, and their family members as well, never saw these accidents coming. Even for those who survive traffic crashes, the incident can ruin holiday celebrations for their entire families.

During Independence Day, drivers may become distracted by fireworks going off, resulting in a crash. However, many people cause wrecks due their negligent behavior, such as taking to the road after drinking at a party. Moreover, firework displays and other holiday events can cause traffic to become highly congested and result in hectic driving that increases the chances of an accident.

If your life has been thrown into chaos by another driver’s negligence, you should go over your options and do your best to have them held accountable. Sadly, these wrecks will keep happening on Independence Day and all other times of the year.
